A hidden surprise, One Marylebone

Why was this event especially challenging?

It is always a pleasure to welcome a client come back year on year for their Christmas events, but it does present one particular challenge…we have to do better than our best last year!

Having planned their last festive celebration at the Gherkin, an iconic part of the London skyline, we had our work cut out for us at Uptown Events!

So how did we do it?

After spending some time looking for the right venue, we knew we had hit the high note when we secured the Soane Reception and Soane Hall at One Marylebone.

The venue itself is a grade 1 listed former church and still retained many of its intricate and beautiful period features. Its unique location, impressive history and our sympathetic decorations all made the evening a spectacular night to remember.

We wanted to make best use of the space available, so our team designed a comfortable reception space on entry, with white furniture, intimate lighting, champagne and canapes, and a caricaturist and good music.

When dinner was announced, we had one final surprise instore. Previously cordoned off, we opened the venue’s Main Hall, which was carefully lit to show off the Soane Hall’s stunning original features and breath-taking grandeur. We took particular care and attention to each detail on both the tables and in the room, complimenting the venue’s period charm, whilst keeping to their Christmassy theme.

The dancefloor, which was previously the church alter, was then filled with people, while the large bar flowed with drinks for guests to enjoy throughout the evening.

We certainly delivered on our promise to our client and showed that our creativity and progressive planning styles could exceed even our own best efforts!
