Christmas in New York

The Brief

With a unique brief in mind, this client requested that our team turn their in-house event spaces into their very own ‘Christmas in New York’. Immersion and attention to detail was a must, with the client wanting their guests to really feel as if they were walking through Times Square, a toy store and even Central Park.

Additionally, the entertainment for the event was a huge factor for the client; guests needed to be thrilled as much as they were simply entertainment throughout the evening.

The Solution

Thanks to the well-travelled team here at Uptown Events, we were able to take inspiration directly from our own escapades in New York. But we also drew considerable inspiration from Hollywood, showcasing Fifth Avenue’s extravagantly decorated shop windows to create the perfect mini New York.

Our team planned for the guests to arrive into the venue down an escalator before moving into the entrance walkway, where they would be greeted by two giant nutcrackers in a snowy walkway. After this, guests would move down the elegantly decorated walkway, featuring giant LED-lit trees, illuminated reindeer and penguins, and giant-size Christmas crackers and present props. Finally, guests would finish the dazzling journey with a surprise encounter with a living Statue of Liberty.

Inside the event, there were four rooms, each with its own unique theme and feel. The main room was stunningly themed as Central Park, showcasing a huge backdrop of the park, tables and benches as realistic furniture and a large, atmospherically-lit start and spheres on the ceiling and a white dance floor boasting a shimmering effect that replaced the iconic ice rink seen in the New York’s winter months.

The two additional rooms leading off from the main room offered a range of distinctive food stalls. Here, guests could enjoy delicious pizza slices, cobb salad and hot dogs throughout the evening. But, the chill-out room hosted the cocktail bar as well as a very impressive American-style dessert station too.

For entertainment, the games rooms brought some old, classic arcade games back to life. But there was also a selfie mirror and chill-out furniture for guests wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the dance floor for a moment.

Onsite, the careful management of our team ensured that the schedule ran smoothly at all times and the guests had their every need catered for.
